CITEC is one of the nine central academic departments of Bielefeld University and belongs to the strategic research focus in Interactive Intelligent Systems.

The Scientific Board is the main decision-making body. Members of the Scientific Board are elected by the Extended Board for four years.
Prof. Dr. Helge Ritter is the CITEC Coordinator, his deputy is Prof. Dr. Britta Wrede. The Cluster's General Manager is Anita Adamczyk.
