Month of Open Research at CITEC Begins

Students from around the world can apply through 21 August

The Cluster of Excellence Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC) is offering English-speaking students the opportunity to apply for a scholarship of 1500€ to work on selected projects during the Month of Open Science (MORe). The application period is open through 21 August 2015.

For the MORe programme, CITEC researchers choose specific projects for students to participate in from the areas of Open Source or Open Data. The projects deal with data processing tools for research in the field of cognitive interaction technology, such as motion intelligence, assistive systems, and interactive intelligent agents.

Interested students can view the projects at, where they can apply to the projects of their choice. The selection process will take place beginning on 22 August 2015 by the MORe team and supervisors.

MORe is an international programme at CITEC that researchers are using to promote Open Science. Open Science is the principle that scientific findings in all forms should be published as quickly as possible, thus making the information available to other researchers. Open Research can only be conducted if scientific data and digital tools are freely available. Researchers at CITEC have already been pursuing the idea of Open Science since 2007. The directives under which they conduct research were recorded in the 2013 CITEC Open Science Manifesto, which is available at htttp:// When researchers share their data with other researchers, scientific progress can be made more quickly. It is often the case, however, that the time and resources necessary to be able to work effectively are missing. This is the reason why the MORe programme was created.

English-speaking students aged 18 and over from around the world can participate in this programme. Students living in Germany may also apply, but they will not receive financial support. The respective MORe projects are designed for one month of full-time work.
