My talk provides an overview over the different funding opportunities for research in Germany with a focus on DFG third party funding and will explain why applications for funding may differ in motivation. Based on my experience as a member of the review board I suggest some advice for applicants and describe the reviewing and evaluation process. Besides, I provide some statistical data for example for funding rates and DFG allocation of funds.
