With the Centre of Excellence on Cognitive Interaction Technology (CITEC) and the Research Institute for Cognition and Robotics (CoR-Lab), Bielefeld University will be presenting its focus of research on interactive intelligent systems before an international expert public at the AUTOMATICA Fair in Munich from 8 to 11 June 2010.
Prof. Janet Bavelas, University of Victoria, will give the first in the high-ranking Lecture Series in Cognitive Interaction entitled "What's unique about face-to-face dialogue?" on 25 June.
Increasing the autonomy of machine learning and making it more independent from human prestructuring is the ambitious goal of the new DFG Priority Programme "Autonomous Learning". It is modelled on the exceptional flexibility of human learning that goes far beyond the current abilities of what are mostly statistically based technical learning systems. By viewing learning as an active process embedded in action, the priority programme aims to open up new dimensions for self-teaching technical systems.
