Demonstrator-Engineering

Signifies the development of concepts, solutions and implementations of Demonstrator-Systems, comprising everything from building to maintenance and operation. The CLF is currently involved in different demonstrator projects:

  • B.I.R.T.E. (Bielefeld Interaction Technology Exponat): combines different areas of research of CITEC (autonomous robots, augmented reality, virtual agents, and perception) for an exhibition ship of Wissenschaft im Dialog (Science in Dialogue) cruising to different German cities in the summer months.
  • VR demonstrator for medical diagnosis of cognitive skills: provides a virtual environment for setting up different tasks and recording the performance of medical patients. The work is conducted within the NRW Hightech project.
  • Humanoid Robot Head: CLF supports the development of the design and mechanical part of a novel humanoid robotic head. Custom hardware and firmware was developed in the central lab facilities allowing test and use of different control strategies. Cooperation with Applied Informatics, SFB673-C2, and Mabotic company.
  • ToBI (Robocup@Home platform): firstly participate in Robocup@Home 2009 (Graz) and German Open (Hannover) with a student team of the Master program Intelligent Systems.
  • 3D Interaction stage: provides an interactive environment combining motion capturing and 3D projection (under construction).
