The Human-Computer-Interaction Laboratory enables the realization of empirical studies with Demonstrator-Systems and is available to all the members of the Center of Excellence. The overall goal is to provide possibilities for combining different technical solutions and setups that are otherwise distributed over individual labs. Currently, the following technologies are available
- Mobile Robotic Platform: custom robotic research platform based on MobileRobots GuiaBot; basis for BIRON and ToBI robots.
- Humanoid Robotic‐Torso: research torso developed by Mabotic and customised by the Central Lab Facilities.
- Miniature Dinosaur Robots: customised commercial Pleo robot system with enhanced control and communication features
- Transparent Projection Screens: enhanced HoloPro technology from pronova.
- Door‐Sized Displays: 64” NEC LCD‐monitors for coupling of spatially distributed or virtual rooms.
- Motion Capture System: VICON system with 8 T20 IR cameras.
- Time‐of‐Flight Sensors and Stereo Cameras: Swissranger 3000 and 4000, and a PointGray. BumbleBee2 camera for depth perception.
- Touch and Tablet Monitors: pen‐based 21” Wacom tablet monitor and 22” Elotouch touch screens.
- 3D Projection Screen: 3‐dimensional Barco beamer rear projection of virtual reality.
- 3D Interaction Stage: combination of 3D projection screen and motion capture system (under construction).
- Research Flat: a typical rented flat for studies in natural environment.
